De Vere Gardens
This Central London flat is a pied-à-terre for a large family whenever a member visits the swinging capital from South East Asia. As such, it needed to serve as a flexible space that could accommodate a variety of functions, yet be simple in design.
Pivoting doors and folding screens offer flexible privacy, while a mezzanine level was added to increase floor space. The oak floors and joinery are deliberately understated to complement the restored Victorian French doors that open up to reveal the new deck hemmed in by the original iron railings.
